Often, church mission falls into the box of simply sending checks to organizations that need financial support.  At Second, we take seriously Christ’s call to serve “the least of these” that’s found in Matthew 25. We’re happy to offer financial support and even happier to get our shoes on the ground to make a difference in the lives of others.

We currently partner with the following local missions:

St. Columba Ecumenical Ministries

  • They provide assistance to those in need through their Day Care Center, Next Stop Transitional Housing, a Food Pantry and Financial, Rental & Utility Assistance.
  • St. Columba is our prime resource for daily assistance for those who contact us in need of immediate help.
  • SPC provides financial support to this ministry as well as volunteer help relating to their feeding program.

The Park Place Child Life Center

  • PPCLC provides volunteer-based after school literacy & arts activities and year-round Saturday enrichment programs for children ages 6 – 14 in Park Place.
  • In addition to financial support, SPC also works to supply meals and cleaning services to this organization.

Fishes & Loaves

  • A ministry of the Ocean View Presbyterian Church that supplies food to 5,000+ households each year.
  • SPC provides financial support to this mission as well as food donations to stock their food pantry.

The Dwelling Place

  • The Dwelling Place exists to provide safe and secure emergency shelter for families in crisis and to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency.
  • SPC has supported this wonderful ministry for years both financially and by volunteering to help out (painting, reading, landscaping, etc.).

ForKids

  • ForKids helps families address the root causes of homelessness by targeting the specific and unique needs of homeless families.
  • Then, this group provides these same families with the skills they need to obtain and maintain independent housing.
  • The SPC community has donated many different kinds of supplies for these families.

NEST

  • Each year, SPC opens our doors for a week to house those who have no place to live.
  • We supply food, hygiene kits and a warm, safe place to sleep for around 40 guests each evening.

SPC also supports international missionaries through prayer and financial contributions.
