NEST
Second
Presbyterian Church hosts the NEST (Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team)
program for one week every year. NEST provides a volunteer coalition of
churches, synagogues, community groups 
and
caring people who offer emergency shelter to the homeless from
mid-November through mid-April. Shelter is offered at various churches
on a rotating basis. Most churches are in Norfolk, but there are three
located in Chesapeake.
This year, we host NEST from Wednesday, March 19 through Tuesday, March 25. To date, volunteers have come from our congregation, the Armed Forces Staff College, and Old Dominion University. This is one of our church-wide mission projects and we need everyone's participation. Sign-up sheets are in the Fellowship Hall.
If you would like to participate in this important ministry, call the church at 423-2822. We need volunteers to help with preparing and serving evening meals and breakfast. The overnight team helps in preparing bag lunches for our guests. Please pray for our guests, our many volunteers, and our leadership team as we provide a place that's warm, safe, and welcoming.
