Since its inception 140 years ago, Second Presbyterian Church (SPC) has been frontier-focused and mission-minded, recognizing that there is a need for the church continually to re-think its calling in light of changes in society and culture. 

In the last 140 years, SPC moved from Colonial Avenue to Freemason Street to Yarmouth Avenue to its current location on Hampton Boulevard.

With a unique music ministry, with new ways of looking at Christian education, and with a new approach to preaching and ministry, Second continues to seek to be a faithful - and fresh - witness in an ever-changing world.

As a “Church”, we know that we are stronger when we recognize both that our gifts come from the grace of God and that they make sense to others (I Corinthians 12: 4 - 7).

As “Presbyterian”, we know that “all have fallen short of the glory of God, “but never short of God’s loving care (Romans 3: 23 - 24).

As “Second”, we know that - just like churches - each of us sometimes need a second start and a second chance.
