Caregivers
One of the great things about being a mid-sized church is that you don’t need to run a Gallup Poll to see where the needs of the church really lie. Outside of the group of our folks who have children [youngsters to adults], the next largest group that we can actually identify includes those who are caring for aging parents or ailing family members. According to AARP, this generation will actually care for our parents for a longer time than we care for our children!
The toll that this responsibility places on seniors who are caring for their ailing spouses, middle aged adults caring for their aging parents and parents who care for their chronically ill children is devastating [both physically and mentally]. Reverend Georgianna Brabban-Johnson, of Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Service, will lead this small group that meets monthly on the third Monday of each month at 7P at the church starting on September 17th. Please join us for a time of sharing the struggles of caretaking with others who are going through the same thing. For additional information, please contact Billy Ricketts at 423-2822 or billy@spcnorfolk.org.
